Sorry I’ve been absent, guys. My computer died, so I’m dealing with the aftermath of that. I don’t have another one yet, but I plan to very soon. When I’m back to blogging regularly, I promise to visit all of your blogs. 😀

Debates about the future of publishing have been going on for quite a while now. I do not wish to partake in said debate because I’m not sure how I feel about it one way or another, but I do know that nothing will replace the feel of a book in my hand–it’s my preference. I’d like to share a video with you from the folks at Penguin Books.

Please check out the entire video and tell me what you think.

  1. Awesome when it went backwards like that! :DI'm on the fence. Being only 21, all I really know has been electronic devices and gadgets. Epublishing has been really cool for me–I don't have to lug around my college text books in my back pack for school. I carry a laptop everywhere I go anyway…and epublishing saves trees. However, I do like the feel of a book in my hands too. I dunno. I think these changes are a good thing. But then, I'm so young, I'm not as wary to change as other older writers.

  2. Love the video. I think that YA authors are catching the interest of young people and giving us future readers, so I'm not too worried about the state of novels.

  3. Even though I'm being dragged deeper into the social media thing (kicking and cursing), I agree young YA authors are creating the platform whereby novels, in one form or other, will continue.Telling stories has probably been part of humanity since speech began … or soon after.

  4. That was very cool. I'm glad you told us to go to the end! I was about to stop it, because I thought it was an awful manipulation, equating electronic publishing with being an immature anti-intellectual.My son is a voracious reader, and the Kindle just makes it cheaper, easier and less messy. He loves it, and I don't notice his mind warping. It was warped way before he got the Kindle.

  5. No wonder I hadn't heard from ya lately! I hope the computer is fixed soon. I don't do much in the way of videos as they are even bigger time sucks than most of the other surfing I do. I have them blocked at work, too, so I can't sneak any time then, either!

  6. Charles,Hope you get to check it out later. Veg Cannibal,I have no problem with electronic books, but I just prefer good old papeR. :-DAaron, I hope so too, Aaron. Christina,Books aren't going anywhere, but I do hope we get to keep the paper versions.Kay,Exactly. Stories are always going to be around. Robin,LOL. What does your son like to read?Jaycee,LOL. 7. Sucks about your computer Tyhitia!! But you got an award! (Pop over to my blog and get your 'Strangeness'!!) Hope you're doing well, hon! Talk to you soon 🙂

  8. Sorry about the computer problems. Unfortunately I can't really \”do\” video, particularly if it's longer than just a few seconds. It takes an hour for a minute to load. Damned \”lightning fast\” satellite connection!
