30 Days of Night was an awesome vampire flick! I assume that almost everyone who loves vampires has seen it. If you haven’t, you should. I am not posting any spoilers, but I must say that the ending fell flat for me, even though I still loved the movie overall. Look at that face. Isn’t she just frighteningly ugly? I love it! :*)
Compare the two photos (above and to the right). Vampires should look the part. Black trenchcoats. Dressed in all black like Damien from THE OMEN. They should not wear frilly, lacy shirts, and act all flamboyant. They should be vicious, ugly, and blood-soaked, IMHO. They should make us afraid with their black eyes and hearts. Louis and Lestat have beautiful teeth, even though you cannot tell in that photo. But take a look at the guy above, look at those nasty looking things called teeth. Would you want him to bite you? I thought not. LOL.
Vampires should strike fear in the hearts of everyone. Even though I love both of the movies mentioned in this post, I just prefer that my vampires not resemble Prince in his video, “When Doves Cry.” See the link below.

Yikes, those creepy vampires give me the eebie jeebies and make me itch. I prefer the pretty ones. You can tell who\’s the romance writer and not the horror writer… LOL. But honestly that first picture is going to have me staying away from you blog until the post moves down some.

And then there\’s the point that unexpected evil/danger is more frightening than overt and obvious evil.

Bernita,Unexpected danger is is more frightening in certain situations. Sometimes its just not done effectively. Obvious evil is frightening as well. Look at 30 Days of Night. Yes, everyone knew that the vampires were evil, BUT these vampires stayed around for the entire 30 days of night and no one knew when they would strike. They never stopped eating folks. That was scary. You just didn\’t know what to expect. Like I said in the post, I loved Interview with the vampire. I am speaking of how vampires look, not all monsters. A flamboyant vampire with pretty teeth is just not scary to me, I don\’t care if he jumps on someone all of a sudden and rips their throat out, it just does not work for me, maybe others like it.David,Exactly! I have loved vampire stories for years. They have evolved into a joke really. This movie came back at us with something different.
30 days of night didn\’t make it to my rural burg, so I missed it. I\’ll have to get it when it comes out on DVD. I have a nice collection of vampire movies.Have you see Frailty? Not vampires, but ooky spooky thriller/horror.

Man, I swore I commented on this, but I must not have.IMHO, vampires should resemble that awful-looking thing in the original vampire movie Nosferatu. They\’re part bat, not part playboy and definitely shouldn\’t be tea-drinking, socialite-types. I\’m also pretty bored with the whole \”I Was a Teenage Vampire\” thing too.Sorry, but if you\’re a blood-sucking freak who can\’t come out during the day and have an aversion to delicious Italian food, life stinks for you. A vampire\’s looks and, ahem, clothing should reflect that.That being said, I\’ve read most of Anne Rice\’s Vampire Chronicles and liked \’em well enough.
Okay, I\’m going to out myself. I like the sexy vampires better than the gruesome ones. And I really think the Klingon forhead version from Buffy was just the dumbest thing ever. Vampires as sexy a la Frank Langella in Dracula works for me.
Ok – but what about Blade? I have to admit to really liking the Blade movies – even though the last one was a little cheesy. That second one had some scary looking vampires!

The vamps in Underworld were pretty cool, but the batty version in the sequel were really lame, I thought. Although that scene with drac on the truck was neat.
Written, They were pretty cool but they were still \”too pretty.\” Pretty teeth, hair that did not move, etc.
